Lace frontals and lace wigs have become quite a craze in the virgin hair industry. Their versatility and realistic capabilities have created a buzz with women of all nationalities. Although lace frontals and wigs are highly sought after, many women don’t know where to start as far as installation or even upkeep. Some stylists are still learning techniques to install them properly. The truth is, lace frontals and even lace wigs have only been in mainstream society for a few years now. We’ve done quite a bit of research and we decided to take some of the mystery out of these beautiful products.
With lace frontals being so popular these days, you may be wondering or even researching the best products to use to install them. There are a few ways to install lace frontals and lace wigs; sew-in, bonded, or even the ever popular elastic band method which is one of our favorites. In this post we decided to focus on the bonded method since the other two methods are pretty well known.
Bonding your lace frontal or wig sounds self-explanatory, and it is, but there are many products on the market to make this happen. There are two ways that you can bond your frontal or wig, with glue or tape.
Got2B Glued Freeze Blasting Spray/Gel
This method uses 2 products to get your desired results; the Got2b glued gel and Got2B Blasting Freeze Spray. Although we have heard of people using one or the other, we have found from experience that using the two products in conjunction yields the best results. This method is fairly easy as it only requires you to place the gel and glue on your hairline. It is also safe if you mistakenly get the product on your hair because…these products ARE hair products. So, in the event that you get it in your hair you can simply wash it out without the fear of hair loss. The only con to using Got2B is that it will only hold for up to a week. If you like removing your wig frequently (as we do) and want a safe alternative to wearing a lace wig or lace frontal, then this is a good choice.
Gorilla Snot
Like the Got2B Glued gel, the Gorilla Snot product is a gel that has a very extreme hold. Applying your wig with Gorilla Snot is the same concept as Got2B glued. It is especially beneficial for ladies with “funny” hairlines (like myself) where applying the wig right on your hairline yields the most natural look. This method will give you a hold for a few days up to a week. If you live in a hot and humid area or workout like myself, hold time leans more to a few days rather than a week.
Bold Hold Lace Wig Tape
The Bold Hold Lace Wig Tape is a fairly new product to the lace wig game and it has gained popularity pretty quickly. This product is also easy to use. It requires you to place the tape IN FRONT of your hairline to bond your wig. The good thing about this product is that you can cut the strips as thin or as thick as you like. It also lasts for up to four weeks. This product is great for women who prefer to wear their lace wigs for longer periods of time and those who work out regularly. Unlike the Got2B product line, the company warns against putting the tape on your hair. Be sure to follow these guidelines because as much as we love lace wigs we love our edges even more!
These are the most popular products for bonding lace wigs and their popularity is well deserved. They are excellent at giving flawless results. Gorilla Snot and Got2B products can be purchased at any store that sells hair products, (i.e. Walmart, CVS, Walgreens). The Bold Hold Lace Wig Tape can be purchased online at thehairdiagram.com. We hope that this blog post was helpful and wish you the best of luck on your lace wig and lace frontal journey!
